Extract from Darkness is a new card printed for the Conspiracy Set. It’s an uncommon sorcery costing 3UB to cast. It reads: “Each player puts the top two cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard. Then put a creature card from a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control.”

The best part about this card is that not only does it mill everyone, but it also does not say that the creature that you get under your control needs to be among those cards that were sent to the graveyard. While on the surface this looks to be a hit-or-miss card, if a bomb is already lying in someone’s graveyard, it’s going to be powerful, especially if you already know what you’re milling. With Brainstorm available in Conspiracy, it’s likely you can put a big creature of your own back, and throw it into the graveyard and get it back with this card, while also possibly depriving your opponents of cards that they would need.

In Commander, this card is even better in a Reanimator deck, especially when many Tutors put cards on top of the deck. The Mimeoplasm decks will probably find room for this card, as this card fuels all graveyards for additional targets for The Mimeoplasm itself to use for its ability, as well as giving your other reanimate spells good targets. This is one of those cards that played at the right time can get your bomb or an opponent’s bomb onto the battlefield without the worry of it being countered. It should be a decent play in Conspiracy Limited and find a home in a number of Commander decks.
